Missing yellow dingy off Hemsby Beach
3 June 2011

Time: 13:35 - 14:20

Jim Davidson ILB
At 13.25 the pagers were set off for a Yellow Dinghy in trouble a quarter of a mile off just North of Hemsby.

The Caister ILB Laun
ched at 13.34 with the Coxswain on the helm and Crewman Andrew Turner. The Tractor driver was Ali Brown.

Caister joined Hemsby ILB to do the search with Hemsby covering the Northern area and Caister the Southern. The Seaking Helicopter also joined the Search.

Winterton Coastgaurd Mobile searched the Shoreline three times in the Search area but nothing was found.

After an hour of searching the shout was called off as a suspected Hoax. There was an onshore wind which should have pushed a dinghy to shore not out and the Mobile which called it in turned out to be turned off.

The Inshore Lifeboat was washed down re-fueled and back on station by 14.40.
